Client: Next Home and Garden, Shoreham, W Sussex
Design: Dalziel + Pow
Size: 5,000sq m
In August 2011, high street fashion and home retailer Next launched a pilot 5,000sq m fashion, home and garden store in Shoreham, West Sussex.
This is a new departure for Next, whereby the existing core market of fashion and home is supplemented with the new DIY and garden offer. The store is a confident and ambitious representation of the retailer’s already broad and popular offer. It is modern, streamlined, relevant and engaging – a statement of just how far the brand has developed over recent years.
Next’s new Shoreham venture delivers a stylish and edited alternative to the regular out-of-town DIY sheds. Fashion-wise, this store is as strong as any of the brand’s recent city-centre openings, but this venue also builds on recent developments in the Next Home concept, to introduce flooring, decorating, fitted furniture, year-round garden and much more. It is a lifestyle offer, delivering a very commercial proposition with confidence and without compromise.

On entering the store, the various product areas line up along an open glazed arcade at the front, allowing the shopper to navigate the space with ease and tempting them to engage with all of the products on offer.
The whole experience has been built with the same commitment to quality and style that underpins the ongoing Next roll out, last seen in Eldon Square, Newcastle.
New elements have been created that are designed to fit the Next aesthetic, which has been carefully developed over the last four years. Natural stone finishes, dramatic lighting, varied ceiling treatments, flexible and stylish merchandise equipment and clear and inspiring graphics are becoming a standard for Next, as they continue to push ahead in a tough and competitive market.
